چکیده

Abstract Fruit quality in most fleshy fruit crops is fundamentally linked to ripening-associated traits, including changes colour. In many climacteric fruits, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), the phytohormone ethylene plays a key role regulating ripening. Previous map-based cloning of YELLOW FRUITED-TOMATO 1 (YFT1) revealed that it encodes EIN2 protein, core component signal transduction. A YFT1 allele with genetic lesion was found be down-regulated yft1 mutant has yellow phenotype and perturbed signalling. Based on bioinformatic analysis, yeast one hybrid assays electrophoretic mobility shift assays, we report transcription factor WRKY32 regulates colour formation. binds W-box W-box-like motifs regulatory region promoter induces its expression. fruits WRKY32-RNAi generated lines, signalling reduced, leading suppression emission, delay chromoplast development, decreased carotenoid accumulation, phenotype. These results provide new insights into networks govern formation via

Transcriptome Analysis Provides a Preliminary Regulation Route of the Ethylene Signal Transduction Component, SlEIN2, during Tomato Ripening

Ethylene is crucial in climacteric fruit ripening. The ethylene signal pathway regulates several physiological alterations such as softening, carotenoid accumulation and sugar level reduction, and production of volatile compounds. All these physiological processes are controlled by numerous genes and their expression simultaneously changes at the onset of ripening. Ethylene insensitive 2 (EIN2)...

Tuning LeSPL-CNR expression by SlymiR157 affects tomato fruit ripening

In plants, microRNAs (miRNAs) play essential roles in growth, development, yield, stress response and interactions with pathogens. However no miRNA has been experimentally documented to be functionally involved in fruit ripening although many miRNAs have been profiled in fruits. Here we show that SlymiR157 and SlymiR156 differentially modulate ripening and softening in tomato (Solanum lycopersi...

Manipulation of light signal transduction as a means of modifying fruit nutritional quality in tomato.

Fruit constitutes a major component of human diets, providing fiber, vitamins, and phytonutrients. Carotenoids are a major class of compounds found in many fruits, providing nutritional benefits as precursors to essential vitamins and as antioxidants. Although recent gene isolation efforts and metabolic engineering have primarily targeted genes involved in carotenoid biosynthesis, factors that ...

Identification, introgression, and validation of fruit volatile QTLs from a red-fruited wild tomato species

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are major determinants of fruit flavor, a primary objective in tomato breeding. A recombinant inbred line (RIL) population consisting of 169 lines derived from a cross between Solanum lycopersicum and a red-fruited wild tomato species Solanum pimpinellifolium accession (SP) was characterized for VOCs in three different seasons. Correlation and hierarchical clus...

Signal transduction systems regulating fruit ripening.

Fruit ripening is a unique aspect of plant development with direct implications for a large component of the food supply and related areas of human health and nutrition. Recent advances in ripening research have given insights into the molecular basis of conserved developmental signals coordinating the ripening process and suggest that sequences related to floral development genes might be logi...
